This Month's race is the Surf - N - Santa 5 miler Dec. 20th!
Hey Team Woo runner and future Team Woo runner! We're gearing up for the Surf - N - Santa 5 Miler Saturday Dec. 20th. It's a beautiful run along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk through the Holiday lights! The race starts at 19th street, infront of the Convention center and ends inside the Convention Center for a Rockin’ Holiday Party. Currently we've given away all of our bibs to listeners who've won bibs and become new members of Team Woo. Check back next month for bibs to our next race, the Dave and Busters power Play 3K Fun Run!
What is the personal Running accomplishment you are most proud of?
I’m the morning drive radio host on WPTE-FM for over 10 years. My on-air name is Woo Woo on “The Morning Point.” We have a large and loyal audience that are active, engaged and health conscience. My co-workers and I developed the “The Run with Woo” program to raise money for organizations in our community. We are now associated with all the charitable runs in the community from Mini Miles to Marathons. We go on-air and on-line to award racing bibs to our loyal listeners and create a team to raise money every month. info@ Pointradio.com
Why is running important to you?
Running allows me to do something I truly enjoy and I can help people by using my voice, my legs and passion to raise millions of dollars annually for those in need. This year alone, includes the NAVY SEAL Foundation, The USO, Wounded Warrior, The Alzheimer’s Association, The Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters and dozens more. I run to stay healthy and help others stay and be healthy. I am fortunate as I am in a position of influence to help my community and the neighborhood I call home

When this race was run for the first time in 1999, it was called the Braveheart Run-Swim-Run. Allen Stone, a local Navy SEAL and friend of the organizers, competed in the event and won the 20–29 male age group. Tragically, it was Allen’s last race. A short time later, he died during a Navy SEAL training exercise. To honor his courageous service, the race committee decided to rename the race as a memorial to our fallen friend and local hero.Visit Their Site
